Job Description

We are searching for a Tax and Finance Business Partner for our FMCG client. This role will play a critical role in partnering with the sales organisation to provide strategic financial and tax-related guidance. This role will be responsible for driving tax compliance, managing financial reporting for sales activities, and aligning business strategies to achieve optimal financial outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both tax regulations and financial planning with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Business Partnership

  • Serve as the primary finance and tax advisor to the sales leadership team, providing insights to drive growth, profitability, and tax efficiency.
  • Collaborate with sales, legal, and operational teams to understand business strategies and provide guidance on financial implications, tax exposure, and opportunities.
  • Support the sales team in structuring complex deals to optimise tax outcomes.

 

Tax Planning & Compliance

  • Oversee tax planning for all sales-related transactions and ensure adherence to local, state, federal, and international tax laws.
  • Review and ensure compliance with indirect taxes (sales tax, VAT, etc.) associated with the company’s sales activities.
  • Manage tax audits and inquiries related to sales revenue, providing documentation and support as needed.

 

Financial Reporting

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for the sales division, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and budgets in collaboration with the sales team to ensure alignment with the company's overall financial objectives.
  • Analyse sales performance against budget, identifying key variances and working with leadership to address issues.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the broader finance team to align on financial policies, tax strategies, and cash flow management related to sales activities.
  • Coordinate with the tax department to ensure accurate tax provisioning, deferred tax accounting, and adherence to tax reporting requirements.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to mitigate tax risks in new business initiatives and geographic expansion.

 

Leadership & Strategic Input

  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management on optimising the financial and tax aspects of sales.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the finance team.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

 

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant 
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in Finance Business Partnering and Taxation in the manufacturing sector.
  • Qualification in CFA or a degree in Business Administration will be an added advantage
  • Proven experience working with sales organisations and influencing non-finance stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of tax regulations (domestic and international) and experience in tax planning for sales transactions.
