Our client is a regional market leader in the oil & gas industry, based in Sharjah.
The Financial Controller / Head of Accounting is responsible for managing end-to-end accounting operations, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and full compliance across a multi-entity, international environment.
This role plays a key part in driving operational efficiency, supporting commercial activity, and strengthening financial governance.
The CFO is looking for someone who will transform the accounting department, continuously improve processes and bring a fresh perspective with the introduction of AI & automation.
Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with IFRS
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Deliver insightful reporting including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis.
- Continuously enhance financial processes.
Working Capital Management
- Monitor and optimise cash flow, liquidity, and overall working capital.
- Partner with treasury on banking activities, reconciliations, and forecasting.
Accounts Receivable & Payable team
- Lead billing, collections, and receivables across multiple international markets.
- Drive improvements in collection cycles and reduce overdue balances.
- Manage staff which are responsible for full payables cycle, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier payments.
Costing & Inventory
- Oversee product costing and margin analysis.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Partner with operations to improve cost efficiency and reduce variances.
Tax & Compliance
- Act as key point of contact for internal and external audits.
- Ensure full compliance with tax, VAT, and regulatory requirements.
Leadership
- Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting team of 6 staff.
- Drive a high-performance culture with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Business Partner to Sales and Supply Chain teams
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Finance or Accounting;
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CMA).
- Forward thinking and can see the bigger picture – commercially minded.
- Growth mindset
- 10+ years’ experience in accounting, including in a leadership role
- Background in manufacturing or oil & gas downstream
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, costing, and controls.
- Experience with ERP systems
- Proven ability to manage teams and operate in a fast-paced, multi-market environment.
