A multinational energy group is launching a large-scale ERP transformation to modernize and unify operations across its downstream retail network in Africa. The ERP Project Manager will lead this end-to-end initiative, ensuring successful deployment, adoption, and long-term value delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Leadership
  • Establish project governance, structure, and resource allocation
  • Oversee the full ERP implementation lifecycle: from requirements through post-go-live stabilization
  • Lead cross-functional teams across IT, finance, operations, logistics, and retail
• Sector-Specific Implementation
  • Design and configure ERP modules aligned to downstream oil & gas operations, including:
    • Complex fuel pricing models
    • Terminal and depot operations
    • Wet/dry stock management and reconciliation
    • Transportation tracking and performance analytics
• Geographic and Regulatory Adaptation
  • Integrate localized compliance for multi-country tax regimes, FX controls, fuel subsidies, and customs processes
  • Navigate operational challenges unique to African markets, including infrastructure, regulatory reporting (e.g., IFRS, OHADA, local GAAP), and joint venture terminal management
• Cross-Entity Harmonization
  • Standardize processes and data models across subsidiaries
  • Enable consolidated reporting and ensure master data governance
  • Align intercompany transactions and ensure statutory compliance
• Change Management
  • Drive user adoption through change strategies and training programs
  • Build sustainable local capabilities and knowledge transfer systems
• Stakeholder Management
  • Interface with implementation partners, vendors, and executive stakeholders
  • Manage internal alignment across business and IT functions
  • Facilitate project reporting and steering committee interactions

Candidate Profile:

• Experience & Background
  • 10+ years in ERP project management
  • Led at least 3 full-cycle ERP implementations
  • Sector experience in downstream oil & gas is essential
  • Fuel retail, LPG, lubricants, and B2B supply chains
  • African pricing, taxation, and logistics structures
  • ERP deployments across multiple African countries is mandatory
• Technical Proficiency
  • Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA or JD Edwards
  • Strong process mapping and enterprise reporting capabilities
  • Experience in system integration, data migration, and post-go-live optimization
• Certifications
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent preferred
• Soft Skills & Attributes
  • Strong leadership and communication across all organizational levels
  • High cultural sensitivity and adaptability for multi-country environments
  • Fluent in English and French (Arabic a plus)
  • Willing to travel extensively across the African continent
