Job Summary
The Career Development and Alumni Officer is responsible for supporting career services and alumni engagement activities across a postgraduate education environment. This role delivers career support to students, builds connections with regional employers, fosters alumni relations, and contributes to event planning and strategic partnerships. The position requires a blend of advisory, relationship management, and administrative skills, with a focus on enhancing student outcomes and building an active alumni network.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one career coaching and group workshops to support postgraduate students with career planning, job search strategies, and personal branding.
- Design and deliver engaging career development sessions focused on CV writing, interview preparation, and networking skills.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and regional employers to generate job and internship opportunities aligned with student profiles.
- Organise and manage career events such as industry panels, employer presentations, and recruitment fairs to enhance student-employer engagement.
- Develop and implement alumni engagement initiatives, including networking events, mentoring programmes, and speaker series.
- Serve as a key liaison with alumni, strengthening relationships and encouraging their involvement in community-building and student support.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to support outreach and visibility efforts related to careers and alumni programming.
- Track and report engagement metrics, feedback, and placement data to inform service improvements and strategic planning.
- Maintain accurate student and alumni records while ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
- Represent the institution at regional events and networking forums, occasionally supporting special projects and travelling as required.
Key Skills and Requirements
Essential
- Experience in career services, alumni relations, or stakeholder engagement within a higher education or corporate setting.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Confident presenter with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel) and digital communication platforms.
- High standards of confidentiality and knowledge of data protection practices.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours when needed.
Desirable
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, HR, Psychology, Education, or related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in higher education or corporate learning and development, preferably in the GCC.
- Career coaching certification or relevant training credentials.
