Job Description
We are recruiting for a SME global manufacturing company operating across 5 manufacturing plants worldwide. The workforce includes a diverse team of blue-collar employees working in factory environments. We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on HR Director to establish and drive the HR function from the ground up, ensuring it supports our operational and strategic goals.
Although the business operating for 30 years, they have never had a full time dedicated HR Head before. This role really is a blank canvas.
Summary:
As the HR Director, you will play a critical, hands-on role in setting up the HR function from scratch. You will be responsible for creating and implementing all HR policies, SOPs, and frameworks while managing the day-to-day HR operations. This role demands extensive understanding of a factory environment and a strong ability to engage with and manage a blue-collar workforce. Travel to Europe and the US will be required, so an 'easy-to-travel' passport is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and build the HR function, including developing policies, procedures, and SOPs from the ground up.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s goals and operational needs.
- Oversee recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning for all manufacturing sites.
- Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives, with a focus on the blue-collar workforce.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, health and safety regulations, and ethical employment practices.
- Partner with leadership teams to support organizational design, talent development, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all locations.
- Manage HR budgets and monitor key HR metrics, including employee turnover and absenteeism rates.
- Travel to manufacturing sites across Europe and the US to support operations and HR initiatives.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of HR experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of working in factory settings and managing blue-collar teams.
- Experience in setting up HR functions, policies, and processes from scratch.
- Strong knowledge of labour laws, health and safety standards, and best HR practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
- A hands-on, proactive, and solution-driven approach to HR leadership.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally, with an 'easy-to-travel' passport.
