Assistant Commercial Manager – FM (facilities management)

Single status – 22k all inclusive, based in Dubai.

For a leading Facilities Management company in the Region – reporting to the Commercial Manager.

 

This role will support in delivering the commercial and contractual aspects of the business to assist the operations of all divisions within the group including interior fit out projects; pre-tenders, assisting in negotiations, involvement in pre & post commercial issues, setting budgets, cost reports and contract negotiations with the objective of minimising risks, maximising opportunities and avoiding disputes.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Pricing & Estimating:
    • Manage the commercial aspects of projects while providing a reliable and thorough contractual/commercial analysis of the opportunity to ensure that obligations are clearly understood and adequately discharged.
    • Support, and where required, lead all pre and post contract activities, including negotiations and act as the main point of contact with the legal/commercial team of new and existing Clients.
    • Ensure compliance to approved pricing principles and put forward constructive feedback to both internal and external stakeholders where appropriate.
    • Lead commercial negotiations with both potential and existing clients.
    • Establish and implement project specific commercial procedures particularly regarding correspondences, notifications, insurances, variation requests / orders.
    • Present cost reports to senior management / key stakeholders of all projects.
    • Provide day to day commercial and contractual support to the BD, Supply Chain and Operations teams,.
  • Contract Compliance / Risk & Opportunity Management:
    • Identify and quantify commercial risk and opportunity within new bids, tenders and post contract projects .
    • Ensure that appropriate contracts are in place with all customers and supply partners that appropriately manages and mitigates risk whilst enhancing opportunities  to benefit the group.
    • Take the lead for developing, implementing, and reviewing effective commercial activity, ensuring that:
      • Compliance to the group risk and opportunity management processes and procedures, including acting as liaison for internal audit activities.
      • Contractual fundamentals (duties, obligations, notices, standards, etc) are observed and discharged to protect the group’s position and entitlements under Contract or with Insurances etc.
    • In conjunction with key internal stakeholders, ensure that contractual and insurance issues, including disputes and claims are resolved or properly communicated in order to protect and further the business interests and relationships.
    • Ensure all contracts meet with  business and legal requirements.
  • Team & Stakeholder Management & Negotiation:
    • In conjunction with key internal stakeholders, ensure that contractual issues, including disputes and claims are resolved or properly communicated in order to protect and further the business interests and relationships.
    • Ensure the effective performance management and development of his/her direct reports, and the effective guidance of everyone responsible for commercial activity within the business.
    • Pro-actively raise and promote commercial awareness and competency business wide via training / education of stakeholders.
    • Ensure any customer commercial enquiries which arise from work carried out by the company are attended to promptly. Provide advice to the business generally regarding contracting & commercial principles.
    • Pro-actively identify new and innovative techniques, processes and ways of working and maintain a commitment to continuous improvement.
    • Lead the team in identifying and quantifying risk and opportunity in the business.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Clear and effective communication in spoken and written English
  • Computer literate with specific knowledge of MS Word & Excel
  • Strong numeracy and data analysis skills
  • Capable to make logical and informed decisions
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills
  • Applicants for this role should have a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or be a qualified Quantity Surveyor.
  • UAE experience is essential with a minimum of 5 years in a commercial/contracts role.
  • Applicants with experience in Facilities Management are preferred, with construction, fit out or refurb projects an added advantage.
