Job Description

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the Strategic Communications Strategy, policies, frameworks, and annual operational plans.
  • Translate organizational priorities into integrated communications programs that strengthen reputation, stakeholder trust, and public awareness.
  • Establish communications governance, standards, and performance indicators to ensure consistency and effectiveness across all communications activities.
  • Advise the Director of Executive Communications and senior leadership on strategic communication opportunities, risks, and emerging issues.

 

Executive Communications & Thought Leadership

  • Develop and oversee executive positioning strategies for senior leadership.
  • Lead the preparation of executive communication materials including speeches, keynote addresses, talking points, opinion articles, media statements, interviews, and briefing documents.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance leadership visibility through strategic media engagement, industry events, conferences, and thought leadership platforms.
  • Ensure senior leadership messaging aligns with organizational priorities and broader strategic objectives.

 

Media Relations & External Communications

  • Develop and maintain a proactive media relations program targeting local, regional, and international media outlets.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with key media representatives, editors, journalists, and industry influencers.
  • Oversee the development and dissemination of press releases, announcements, media kits, fact sheets, FAQs, and other external communications materials.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and coordinated responses to media inquiries and emerging issues.

 

Reputation & Crisis Communications

  • Lead the development and implementation of reputation management and crisis communication frameworks.
  • Monitor media coverage, stakeholder sentiment, and reputational risks, providing strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Coordinate communication responses during incidents, issues, and crises to ensure message consistency and stakeholder confidence.
  • Conduct media preparedness programs and spokesperson training for designated executives and subject matter experts.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify and prioritize key stakeholder groups and develop communication approaches tailored to their needs and expectations.
  • Strengthen collaboration with government entities, strategic partners, industry stakeholders, and relevant media organizations.
  • Support corporate initiatives, partnerships, and major projects through targeted communication strategies and stakeholder engagement plans.

 

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Oversee media monitoring, sentiment analysis, benchmarking, and communications performance measurement.
  • Develop executive reports and dashboards that assess communication effectiveness and provide actionable insights.
  • Ensure continuous improvement through data-driven planning and evaluation.

 

People Leadership & Budget Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Strategic Communications team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Manage agency relationships and external communication service providers to ensure quality delivery and value for money.
  • Oversee section budgets and resource planning to ensure efficient utilization of resources and achievement of objectives.
