Job Description

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in a high-energy derivatives trading environment? Our Commodities client is looking for a sharp and detail-oriented Middle Office Analyst to join their team. You'll be at the heart of our derivatives operations, responsible for the critical tasks of managing exposures, ensuring precise trade capture, and delivering insightful daily reporting to both Traders and Management, including clear explanations of Expo and P&L movements.

As our Middle Office Analyst, you will:

  • Work hand-in-hand with the traders to guarantee accurate and comprehensive trade capture and exposure management across a variety of products and strategies.
  • Generate daily P&L and risk exposure reports, highlighting key performance drivers and providing valuable insights to trading and management teams.
  • Develop and maintain robust forward curves and valuation models for derivatives, ensuring accurate daily market pricing and reflection.
  • Take ownership of month-end closing processes, ensuring adherence to internal timelines and reporting standards.
  • Oversee the crucial functions of trade validation, stress testing, and back-testing to effectively identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Collaborate with the Back Office to swiftly resolve any trade discrepancies, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation.
  • Provide essential data and analytical support to the Quantitative Risk team for their daily risk assessments.
  • Partner with IT and ETRM teams to drive process improvements and enhance workflow efficiency through the development of new tools.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • 3-4 years of proven experience within Middle Office, Product Control, or Risk Management, ideally within the energy trading sector.
  • A strong grasp of paper instruments across diverse energy commodities, including Crude, Naphtha, Gasoline, LPG, Middle Distillates, and Fuel Oil.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, with a working knowledge of VBA and SQL being a significant advantage.
  • A solid understanding of paper contracts, including swaps and futures.
  • Familiarity with oil options instruments, their valuation methodologies, and key risk metrics.
  • A robust understanding of oil market derivatives, including their terminology, contracts, data, and fundamental drivers.
  • Familiarity with risk management requirements and controls.
