Job Description
The Specialist – Process Planning is responsible for leading and managing planning activities related to special processes such as inspection, chemical and mechanical cleaning, surface treatment, composites, sheet metal, non-destructive testing (NDT), painting, plasma operations, and welding. This position ensures the seamless execution of maintenance and repair operations by coordinating with cross-functional departments to plan, schedule, and prioritize workflows.
The role includes managing documentation, supporting new repair capabilities, maintaining repair price catalogs, and overseeing billing. It also emphasizes compliance with industry regulations, optimization of production workflows, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Readiness & Documentation (35%)
- Plan and complete documentation, ERP testing, and training for new employees before start of operations.
- Develop and implement necessary processes, procedures, and systems for new capabilities.
- Collaborate with operations to plan and prioritize special process shop activities.
- Maintain and update repair pricing catalogues.
- Work with commercial teams on contract and quotation preparation.
2. Production Planning & Workflow Optimization (25%)
- Lead production planning activities for special processes and ensure workload balancing.
- Participate in production control meetings and align resources accordingly.
- Optimize workflows and reduce turnaround time.
3. Compliance & Quality Assurance (15%)
- Ensure compliance with technical documentation, regulatory requirements, and internal quality systems.
- Enforce safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.
4. Resource Coordination & Support (15%)
- Support operational readiness by managing processes, resources, and training.
- Continuously monitor and enhance production priorities and resource allocation.
5. Cross-Departmental Coordination & Billing (10%)
- Act as liaison with supply chain, facilities, technical services, and commercial teams.
- Approve billing data and ensure compliance with contractual and financial requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Diploma or associate degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgy, Chemical), or a related field.
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in aviation or aerospace MRO operations.
- Minimum 5 years in production planning and control within a high-paced aviation environment.
- Strong background in aircraft engine systems, components, and maintenance requirements.
- Proven project execution skills with a focus on cost, time, and quality.
